ACCOUNTING ADMINISTRATOR I (SUPERVISOR)

The Department of Water Resources is seeking an Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor) for the Cash Receipts Section. This position is responsible for managing and directing the workload of professional accountants engaged in analyzing account transactions and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of fiscal responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Managing and directing the workload of a staff of professional accountants
Analyzing account transactions
Recognizing and correcting errors
Determining the corrective actions to be taken
Inputting all remittances into the managing system
Clearing invoices
Researching and resolving receipting and remittance problems
Responding to inquiries from outside governmental sources
Managing the receipt of wire transfers from private banking institutions within state requirements
Ensuring the section meets its fiscal responsibilities for accurate and timely reporting

Required

Knowledgeable in and able to comply with accounting/cash management processes, procedures, rules, and requirements
Experience working with banking institutions
Governmental bank account reconciliation experience
Experience in cashiering or managing cash in the State government setting
Capability to analyze and interpret documents and determine a proper course of action
Strong organizational skills
Good understanding of State organizational structure and policies
Exercise good attendance
High degree of knowledge and proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft Office
Experience using automated accounting systems and remittance/deposit systems
Ability to use resource materials and understand procedures, instructions, and control agency laws and rules to research and diagnose issues
Ability to express themselves effectively, both verbally and in writing, to all internal and external contacts
Demonstrate a customer service focus
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts at all levels
