Masters of Social Work or Masters of Clinical Counseling Internship NYAP : Behavioral Health Columbus OH
National Youth Advocate Program is accepting internship applications for our Behavioral Health team for the Summer, 2026 and Fall, 2026 in our Columbus region. The role involves providing mental health services and support to youth and families while gaining hands-on experience in various therapeutic areas.

Responsibilities
Providing appropriate individual, group, and family mental health services, case management, transportation, and other professional services, meeting or exceeding established outcomes thresholds on behalf of persons served
Traveling as needed, to provide community-based services to youth and families in compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements
Completing all required documentation in a timely manner
Completing all required training in a timely manner
Coordinating and monitoring services for the youth and family in the community, for mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, and social services
Regularly reviews and modifies youth-based plans to assure consistent progress and success on written plan goals
Assisting in family reunification and/or stabilization efforts with the youth’s primary family or other permanent living arrangements consistent with the youth’s case plan
Actively participates in the weekly supervision process
Qualification
Required
Enrollment in a Master level Social Work or Master's level Clinical Counseling program required
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution
Enrolled in an accredited institution for a Master's Degree in Social Work or Master's in Clinical Counseling
An internship or field placement is a requirement by the institution
Upon the completion of the internship, the individual would receive credit toward their pursued degree
LSW, SWT or CT licensure required
You must be 21 years of age on the first day of your internship
Valid driver's license
Reliable personal transportation
Good driving record
Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability
Preferred
Experience working in direct service with youth and families is strongly preferred
A willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours
Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function
Capacity to be flexible and responsive to youth served, foster caregivers, system partners, and internal customers
Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs
