The New York State Education Department (NYSED) is seeking candidates for an Administrative Specialist 1 position in the High School Equivalency Office. This role involves providing administrative support for staffing, assisting program managers with fiscal reconciliation, and managing office inventory and supplies.

Responsibilities
Provide administrative support for staffing, by understanding and adhering to OHRM protocols for filling vacancies, i.e., contacting candidates, scheduling interviews, and completing the hiring process and HSE orientation
Assist program managers with the fiscal reconciliation of contracts
Oversight of deposits and reports for SED fiscal office
Manage HSE office inventory and be responsible for the ordering of supplies and equipment, as needed
Provide professional administrative and staff support to program manager staff
Track fiscal data and prepare spreadsheets for possible audit
Resolve funds submitted for transcript requests which cannot be processed
Review and process HSE invoices received
Review and process transcripts requests from other governmental entities and incarcerated settings
Assist with the HSE Office inbox, as needed
Maintain records for test center contracts
Assist with test center examiner and coordinator training, including the maintenance and oversight of test center staffing records
Related duties, as required and appropriate to this position
Qualification
Required
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or higher
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or higher AND either: One year of professional experience; OR a Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a field related to the position being filled
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or higher AND either: Two years of professional experience; OR a Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a field related to the position being filled AND one year of professional experience
Professional experience must be performing the duties of the full performance level position
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Administrative Specialist 1
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title salary grade 16 or above deemed eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title salary grade 11 or above deemed eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law
Candidates may be eligible for nomination for transfer under Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law to Administrative Specialist Trainee 1 if they are a current NYS employee with one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title salary grade 12 or higher AND have standing on the Public Administration Trainee Transition (PATT) or the Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list AND possess a bachelor's degree
Candidates may be eligible for nomination for transfer under Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law to Administrative Specialist 1 if they are a current NYS employee with one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title salary grade 16 or higher AND have standing on the Public Administration Trainee Transition (PATT) or the Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list AND possess a bachelor's degree
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title allocated salary grade 16 or higher eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law
Candidates must possess a current 55b/c eligibility letter and the following minimum qualifications: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or higher
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or higher AND either: One year of professional experience; OR a Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a field related to the position being filled
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or higher AND either: Two years of professional experience; OR a Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a field related to the position being filled AND one year of professional experience
