Manager Employment Counsel

Responsibilities

Provide support on employment-related legal matters, including compliance with wage and hour laws, employee discipline issues, Title VII, RLA, ADA, ADEA, ERISA, USERRA, and FMLA and related state leave and disability statutes
Counsel internal teams on a wide-range of employment matters, including People Team, Finance, and operational groups
Manage employment disputes with outside counsel, including administrative EEO/discrimination charges, court litigation, mediation and arbitration
Supervise non-lawyer staff on case management, subpoenas and government agency inquiries
Draft, review, and revise people-related company policies and procedures
Prepare and conduct trainings on various employment law topics
Negotiate, review and interpret employment agreements
Play a key role in monitoring relevant industry trends, regulatory enforcement and court precedent
Active member of trade association's Labor & Employment Council
Provides legal support on large scale transactions and other projects as necessary
Perform legal research and analysis
Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
Other duties as assigned

Required

Juris doctorate and admission to the Bar of any state
Five (5) years of experience at a law firm or a corporate in-house legal department
Extensive knowledge of employment laws and best practices
Experience in drafting and negotiating employment agreements
Proficient in all Microsoft Office XP applications
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent team and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well under limited supervision in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical skills
Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
Must pass a pre-employment drug test
Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred

Experience negotiating and/or interpreting employment agreements
Experience advising clients on labor and employment issues for both unionized and non-union workgroups
Working with other countries, including local counsel in international locations
Spanish language skills
