Responsibilities

Directs and manages the EDI Financial Specialist and EDI Billing Representative staff across multiple sites in Minnesota, Florida, and Arizona
Coordinates, facilitates, and oversees the patient experience, performing related administrative tasks for the Executive, Development, and international patient population
Supervises and directs highest level of patient service, working closely with administration and leaders within patient appointment coordinators, allied health staff, and other professionals throughout Mayo Clinic to ensure service excellence for this high-touch patient population
Responsible for optimizing staff productivity and establishing criteria for service expectations
Implements retention planning and staff development initiatives that align with Executive, Development and International strategic initiatives
Participates in the overall management of Revenue Cycle teams through involvement in Enterprise-wide projects, work groups, task forces, councils, and committees
Proactively works to minimize front-end related errors and claims denials related to EDI patients
Manages work queues and supports necessary patient escalations for EDI patients as it relates to Revenue Cycle experience
Collaborates with Revenue Cycle leadership as needed to create and implement process improvement initiatives
Responsible for the performance of the EDI team and holds each staff member accountable for the performance of assigned day-to-day activities, to include the effective use of equipment and materials within departmental budget and quality standards
Monitors staff productivity levels, quality of output, and resolves workplace-related issues in a timely manner to promote a culture of accountability driving toward continuous performance improvement
Develops and/or refines operational procedures and guidelines to drive team performance towards established organizational operational and financial targets
Serves as a liaison to other revenue cycle and clinical practice teams within Mayo Clinic as well as external constituents/stakeholders
Responsible for the identification and planning of tactical and strategic improvement initiatives including retention to increase both financial and operational performance
Designs and implements performance improvement plan (PIPs) to remediate identified improvement initiatives and align performance with management expectations as necessary
Participates in the overall management of Revenue Cycle teams through involvement in Enterprise-wide projects, work groups, task forces, councils, and committees

Required

Bachelor's Degree
7+ years of experience in customer service, concierge services, finance, communications, or a related field
Excellent listening and communication skills
Superior written communication skills
The ability to interact and communicate effectively with a diverse population, including prominent Executive, Development and International clientele
Conflict management and resolution, ability to use good judgment in difficult or sensitive situations
Work independently to generate positive solutions and outcomes
Accommodate flexible work schedule
Intermediate computer/keyboarding and mathematic skills
Familiarity with Microsoft applications
Phone etiquette and customer service and call handling skills
Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects in conjunction with direct supervision and management of the EDI team
Position requires excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a complex and patient-centered environment
Incumbents must be comfortable with ambiguity, exhibit good decision-making skills, and demonstrate attention to detail
Ingenuity and judgment are required to review facts, plan work, estimate costs, interpret results, draw conclusions and take or recommend action

Preferred

Knowledge of and experience within Epic is preferred
Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Certification Preferred
Experience with Embassies, Embassy processes, specialty billing, and supervisory/leadership skills
Arabic language skills are a plus
