People Leader | HR Manager
SSP America is seeking an HR Manager to support their airport restaurant operations at JFK Airport. This role involves acting as a hands-on HR partner, supporting employee relations, and ensuring compliance with New York wage and hour laws in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Act as a hands-on HR partner to field leadership and airport operations
Support employee relations, performance conversations, and leader coaching
Work within a unionized environment, partnering thoughtfully on labor-related matters
Guide compliance with New York wage & hour laws and employment practices
Collaborate with Regional and Corporate People teams on initiatives and programs
Support recruiting, onboarding, and engagement efforts that strengthen the team
Qualification
Required
Experience working in a union environment
Strong understanding of New York wage and hour laws
Minimum 5 years of progressive HR Generalist or HR Manager experience
A practical, people-first approach with sound judgment and discretion
Comfort supporting fast-moving operations (hospitality, retail, food service, or similar)
Ability and willingness to work on-site in a highly interactive environment
