Intelligent Transportation Systems Project Manager (Traffic Engineer III) - Street Transportation Department
The City of Phoenix is dedicated to promoting safe and efficient transportation, and they are seeking an Intelligent Transportation Systems Project Manager to oversee the operations of the Traffic Management Center. This role involves managing traffic signal operations, supervising technical staff, and coordinating traffic for events while engaging with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the City's Traffic Management Center (TMC)
Manage over 1,200 signalized intersections using the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS)
Supervise Signal Systems Specialists (Levels II and I) in their technical work
Manage traffic using Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) devices
Coordinate traffic for special events and incidents in real-time
Address public complaints and inquiries regarding traffic signal operations
Qualification
Required
Three years of experience in the field of traffic engineering
One year at a senior traffic engineering level
Bachelor's degree in engineering, including courses in traffic engineering or transportation engineering; Master's degree preferred
Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
Must be registered in the State of Arizona as a Professional Engineer within 12 months of hire; current certification as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer, preferred
All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position
Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage

Project management experience
Supervisory experience
Experience intelligent transportation systems, advanced transportation management systems, programming traffic signal controllers, traffic signal systems, and other related equipment
Experience in traffic signal timing, modeling, and performing calculations for yellow change, red clearance, and pedestrian clearance intervals
Experience working in a real-time traffic management environment such as a traffic management center
Certification as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) preferred
