IT Field Technician
Oxford Solutions is working with a client to fill a contract IT Field Technician role supporting mission-critical infrastructure. This position requires a highly technical professional who will provide 24/7 on-call support, travel to client sites to resolve critical outages, and lead during system-down events while communicating with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Provide 24/7 on-call support and respond immediately to critical infrastructure outages
Travel to client sites as needed to resolve urgent system, network, or hardware failures
Design, deploy, and troubleshoot VMware environments and Windows Server clusters
Architect, configure, and maintain network infrastructure including firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and intrusion prevention
Serve as the technical lead during system outages, cybersecurity incidents, and hardware failures
Diagnose and resolve issues across servers, virtualization, networking, and storage
Perform hands-on hardware repairs including replacing server components such as RAID controllers, power supplies, and motherboards
Communicate complex technical issues clearly and calmly to clients during high-stress situations
Support backup, disaster recovery, and threat mitigation initiatives
Qualification
Required
Provide 24/7 on-call support and respond immediately to critical infrastructure outages
Travel to client sites as needed to resolve urgent system, network, or hardware failures

Expert-level experience with VMware ESXi and vCenter
Strong Windows Server administration experience (2016–2022) including Active Directory, Group Policy, and Azure integrations
Advanced networking skills including switching, routing, and firewall configuration
Experience with firewall platforms such as Fortinet, SonicWall, or Cisco
Hands-on server hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery tools such as Veeam
Strong understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and incident response
Experience in infrastructure, systems engineering, or field-based IT support
Experience supporting production environments with strict uptime requirements
Ability to work independently, make fast decisions, and lead during critical incidents
Strong customer-facing communication skills
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel on short notice
