POWER SYSTEMS DIVISION (PSD) APPLICATIONS ENGINEER

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving several states, is hiring an Application Engineer for their Power Systems Division. The PSD Applications Engineer will assist consulting engineers and contractors in designing power plants, focusing on both mechanical and electrical aspects of power generation systems.

Responsibilities

Assist consulting engineers, contractors, and end-users in the design of power plants that result in the sale of Caterpillar power generation products
Assist consulting engineers and contractors with project designs and specifications for Caterpillar standby power systems applications
Use Caterpillar sizing programs as necessary to assist consulting engineers with their designs
Communicate effectively with clients and team members
Work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize competing deadlines
Train new Engineers effectively
Perform calculations for sizing or circuit breakers, wires, and disconnects
Prepare and read drawings to be used in construction and equipment installation
Write and modify specifications; read and interpret contract documents
Maintain an excellent driving record and be able to travel to various sites
Understand, interpret and meet complex customer needs through the preparation of proposals and other documentation
Promote a positive customer experience

Required

Minimum of one to five years' experience in electrical power systems required
Strong communicator with excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize competing deadlines
Ability to train new Engineers effectively
Good attention to detail
Ability to perform calculations for sizing or circuit breakers, wires, and disconnects
Ability to prepare and read drawings to be used in construction and equipment installation
Ability to write and modify specifications; read and interpret contract documents
Excellent driving record
Ability to travel to various sites
Proven ability to understand, interpret and meet complex customer needs through the preparation of proposal and other documentation
Promote a positive customer experience

Physical ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
Ability to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 20 pounds in weight

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering preferred
