Classification & Compensation Analyst
The University of Vermont seeks a Classification & Compensation Analyst to join the Total Rewards Team within Human Resources. This role supports the university’s commitment to equitable, competitive, and transparent compensation practices by providing analysis, market insight, and consultation related to staff classification and pay.

Responsibilities
Perform analysis-based work related to UVM’s staff classification and compensation systems
Review position descriptions using internal and external market benchmarking to support recruitments, reclassifications, and off-cycle salary reviews
Advise campus constituents on salary setting for hires, reclassifications, position updates, and off-cycle salary increases, with attention to equity and competitiveness
Research and analyze compensation data for annual projects and ad hoc requests
Participate in external compensation surveys, including data submission and analysis of results from peer institutions
Serve as a resource for campus partners on classification and compensation practices, policies, and processes
Research and assess market trends and economic factors to inform pay practices that support attraction and retention of staff
Review and complete staff hiring proposals, providing guidance on equitable and competitive salary recommendations
Independently collect and evaluate compensation and economic data to support salary projections, survey participation, and campus advisement
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related relevant field
Minimum of 3 years' related professional experience of analytical skills and/or general HR industry knowledge
Experience with or ability to adopt HRIS systems; proficiency with spreadsheets, database and word processing applications
Knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations, such as FLSA
Effective communication, time management and organizational skills
Ability to serve as effective team member on collaborative projects
Preferred
SPHR/PHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification, experience in higher education and/or classification and compensation
Hands-on experience with compensation principles, salary structures, and job classification concepts
