Start in 2026 SummerCloudflare is on a mission to help build a better Internet, and they are seeking a Physical Security Intern to support their security team. The intern will work on various security initiatives, monitor technical security systems, and assist in developing security procedures.

Responsibilities
Execute a specialized security project over 12 weeks that directly improves Cloudflare’s defensive posture
Support the development of global security operational procedures & documents
Coordinate response to incidents on company premises and/or sites of special interest (e.g., events, etc.) using the appropriate communication methods and tools
Monitor and administrate various technical security systems, including access control, video management, alarm monitoring, PSIM systems, and mass-notification tools
Assist in developing location risk assessments, threat assessments, and incident assessments on various incidents/subjects that may impact the safety and security of Cloudflare personnel, business operations, travelers, physical assets, and intellectual property
Curate and regularly update the global distribution list, location coordinates, and point of contact databases
Support tactical open-source monitoring efforts for offices and events
Work cross-functionally with Legal, People, Engineering, and Finance teams to integrate security into the fabric of the company
Work closely with a mentor who will provide hands-on guidance in your specific security domain
Present your security project to the entire company at the end of the internship
Connect and learn from our executives and leadership team including our co-founders
Write for our Cloudflare blog and be featured on Cloudflare.tv sessions
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a degree in International Affairs, Business, Emergency Management, Political Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field
Experience drafting security procedures and templates
Demonstrated critical thinking skills and drive to learn and adapt new technologies
Curiosity, empathy and ability to get things done
Ability to commit to a minimum 12 week summer internship
In office 3-5 days a week in the Austin office
Preferred
Bilingual is a plus
Demonstrated passion for security & software development, such as personal projects, open-source contributions, or experience with our developer platform using Cloudflare for Students
