Design Systems Architect (Figma Libraries)
Design Citizen is a human-centered talent agency partnering with organizations to create innovative design solutions. They are seeking a Design Systems Architect to build and evolve the design system infrastructure for enterprise digital products, focusing on creating a unified Figma component library to enhance design consistency and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Architect, maintain, and evolve a multi-product Figma component library
Establish scalable UI patterns, tokens/variables, accessibility guidelines, and system-level best practices
Create clear, consistent documentation that teams can rely on for alignment and adoption
Leverage advanced Figma capabilities—including Slots, Variables, and emerging system features—to increase flexibility and performance
Audit components, streamline workflows, and identify opportunities to improve system usability and maintainability
Ensure system health through versioning, cleanup, and thoughtful governance
Partner closely with engineering to align Figma components with code-based implementations
Define handoff standards and bridge the gap between design and development
Collaborate with design teams to ensure consistency across multiple digital products and work-streams
Qualification
Required
6–10+ years of experience in design systems, component architecture, or UI engineering within complex product environments
Deep proficiency in Figma, including advanced component setups, variants, variables, tokens, and library management
Experience collaborating with engineers and contributing to design-to-code workflows
Strong understanding of accessibility, responsive systems, and scalable design patterns
Excellent communication skills with the ability to guide teams, set standards, and influence consensus
A systems-oriented mindset—organized, curious, methodical, and comfortable balancing detail with long-term vision
