Internship-Communications
The Virginia Department of Forestry offers a Communications Internship for college students and veterans transitioning to civilian roles. The intern will work with the Office of Communications team to create engaging content that promotes Virginia's forests and natural resources.
Environmental Services
Responsibilities
Attend meetings and work with agency topic experts to create communications and outreach products
Engage with the public, partners and members of the news media
Learn how to engage audiences and promote brand awareness through content creation
Develop an understanding of communications best practices
Assist with writing assignments (news releases, web content, social media, video scripts, etc.)
Assist with video production
Assist with social media management and learn to assess analytics such as followers, engagements and other metrics, and provide recommendations for improvement
Qualification
Required
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Meet deadlines
Ability to work well in a team setting but also independently
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred
Enthusiasm for Virginia's natural resources
