(Remote) Data Analytics Specialist - School of Public Health/Prevention Research Center
West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Data Analytics Specialist within the School of Public Health's Prevention Research Center. Responsibilities
Monitor data collection and data collection protocols
Design, develop, and maintain VISUALLY APPEALING tailored dashboards using Tableau/Power BI or other data visualization software for real-time performance monitoring, report generation for multiple levels of audiences from large datasets
Streamline reporting processes, increase efficiency in data retrieval and presentation accuracy. This includes automating and/or writing code to translate data into understandable and visually appealing reports in real time
Conduct system analysis and implementation to maintain and improve computer systems to generate lengthy reports in an efficient and timely manner
Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for centralized access to prior and future reporting initiatives and process information for internal team members
Interprets, synthesizes, and analyzes data
Manages multiple large project databases of qualitative and quantitative data
Provide technical assistance to PRC, community, and state partners for dashboards and data reports
Create and generate annual reports for schools, counties, community and state partners, including written reports and presentations
Regularly schedules, organizes, and reports on status of data management activities to project team
Writes and edits appropriate reports and other deliverables, including presentations, for a variety of stakeholders such state, federal and community audiences
Collaborate with state and community partners to implement data-driven strategies and integrate evaluation findings into continuous quality improvement initiatives
Provides mentorship to team members and graduate students, fostering professional growth and building organizational capacity
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in public health, psychology, sociology, social work, public administration, Data Analytics and Design, Data Visualization, Software Engineering or a related discipline
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in biostatistics, epidemiology, data analysis and data visualization including application of statistical methodology
All qualifications must be met by the time of employment
Knowledge of the mission, goals, and policies of the WVPRC
Knowledge of research methodology in a community setting
Knowledge of program development and management
Demonstrated organizational skills to plan and prioritize tasks
Excellent communication skills (oral, telephone, written, face-to-face) and ability to perform in a professional manner in a variety of settings and with individuals of various backgrounds and skill levels
Ability to manage multiple project activities with an appropriate degree of attention to detail
Ability to see the interconnectedness among multiple aspects of a project
Effective public speaking skills
Skilled in the proficient use of computer software including the use of spreadsheet, word processing, video-conferencing software, web-based survey and presentation programs, and file management
Ability to create and generate automated report
Ability to present findings graphically including tables, charts, and interactive data dashboards
Ability to work effectively with diverse levels of individuals, such as administration, faculty, staff, office personnel, community leaders and partners, funding agency representatives and vendors
Ability to work independently with unstructured supervision and in flexible environments including using video-conferencing software
Ability to problem-solve, to reconcile differences, to resolve last minute crises in a successful manner
Ability to organize information, to reach conclusions, and to compose reports
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to travel independently for state project functions
Ability to communicate in English using proper grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation
Ability to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards
Preferred
Masters' degree or higher preferred
Specific skills in data visualization software required (such as Tableau, Microsoft BI, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, Python/ Python 3, SAS, Tableau, Oracle, SharePoint, REDCap, Java C++ etc.) are preferred
Preferable proficiency in the following to create county, state, regional maps: Sage X3, ArcGIS Pro
