Director of Claims Operations (Insurtech)
Tint is an insurtech company that enables SaaS platforms to unlock growth through embedded insurance. The Director of Claims Operations will build and lead the claims function, focusing on creating a customer-first claims experience and driving operational excellence through automation and AI-driven workflows.
Responsibilities
Build and scale claims operations
Build the claims function from zero to scale, including org design, hiring, vendor strategy, workflows, QA, controls, and reporting
Select and implement claims tooling (FNOL, case management, document handling, payments, communications, analytics)
Create a scalable operating model across intake, investigation, adjudication, payments, and customer communications
Define service standards balancing speed, accuracy, empathy, and compliance
Design a simple, proactive, and transparent claims journey
Reduce customer effort and cycle time through strong communication, self-service, and case management
Establish voice-of-customer feedback loops and CX targets (e.g., NPS/CSAT, time-to-resolution)
Leverage AI/ML for automated intake, triage, document extraction, and faster time-to-first-action
Define human-in-the-loop decisioning, QA thresholds, audit trails, and regulatory guardrails
Partner with Product and Engineering to deploy automation responsibly and at scale
Build a culture of continuous improvement using data and experimentation
Hire, coach, and manage claims leaders and adjusters
Build strong training, QA, and performance management programs
Foster a collaborative, accountable, customer-advocacy-driven culture
Drive improvements in severity, leakage, cycle time, and customer satisfaction
Implement robust controls for regulatory compliance, complaints, litigation, and vendor oversight
Partner with Finance and Underwriting to analyze trends and improve loss performance and product design
Qualification
Required
10+ years of progressive claims leadership experience within an insurer, MGA, TPA, or insurtech (hybrid experience preferred)
Experience building or transforming claims programs in high-growth or delegated authority environments
Strong background implementing claims systems and digital workflows (FNOL, case management, payments, communications)
Deep understanding of claims best practices, regulatory requirements, and dispute handling
Proven people leader with experience developing managers and adjusters
Strong operational leadership with experience in SOPs, QA, training, and performance management
Comfortable partnering cross-functionally with Product and Engineering
Hands-on, adaptable, and energized by early-stage ambiguity
Licensed in all 50 states or able to obtain licensure within 4–6 weeks
Willing to travel 2–4x per year for team and company offsites
Preferred
Experience operating in an MGA model
Experience launching claims operations from scratch
Experience implementing claims platforms and vendor partnerships
Familiarity applying AI and automation in claims operations
Experience with claims audits, compliance frameworks, and regulator readiness
