Business Development & Origination Associate
Sweetwater Private Equity is a private equity firm specializing in direct secondary transactions. The Business Development & Origination Associate will be responsible for owning the operational backbone of sourcing efforts, executing outreach campaigns, and ensuring data hygiene across systems.

Responsibilities
Build and maintain structured lists of target companies, GPs, intermediaries, and investors aligned with Sweetwater’s sourcing strategy
Research companies, firms, and individuals to inform high-quality, personalized outreach
Execute outbound email campaigns on behalf of senior team members, including drafting and managing responses
Manage follow-ups, relationship progression, and hand-offs to the investment team
Prepare concise briefing notes and context ahead of meetings
Monitor inbound signals and time-sensitive opportunities; escalate appropriately
Consistently report to leadership team and collaboratively optimize efforts over time
Ensure all outreach, meetings, and relationship activity are accurately captured
Build templates, tagging systems, and reporting that create leverage for the team
Produce regular reporting on outreach activity, pipeline health, and relationship coverage
Identify gaps in coverage and proactively recommend priorities
Work closely with Head of Research and deal teams to refine targets, coordinate hand-offs, and maintain extreme outbound momentum
Work closely with advanced engineering team to provide business needs for proprietary AI system
Drive efficient collaboration across tools (CRM, email, data platforms, research tools)
Act as a connective layer between data, outreach, and deal execution
Qualification
Required
Tech forward – curiosity and ability to leverage modern technology to efficiently execute high velocity outbound strategy
3–7 years of experience in a role requiring external communication and operational ownership
Demonstrated ability to design and improve workflows, not just execute within them
Strong written communication skills with the ability to draft emails that reflect a senior, professional voice
Excellent judgment when representing an organization externally
Comfort managing high volumes of activity without losing precision
Proficiency with CRM systems and other outbound technology like Outreach or Apollo
Experience using research tools such as PitchBook or similar data and research systems
High level of ownership, follow-through, and independence
Experience in technology and data-driven environments
Preferred
Exposure to private equity, venture capital, investment banking, or secondary transactions
Background in a high-performing BDR, sales operations, or broader GTM program at a strong software company
Familiarity with conference-driven or event-driven business development
