Risk & Compliance Supervisor

Responsibilities
Manage enhanced due diligence reviews on new and existing limited business merchants to resolve any potential due diligence issues
Conducts ongoing quality assurance of transaction monitoring related to Risk & Compliance (BSA/AML) in accordance with established procedures
Supervise the execution of compliance monitoring reviews, reporting, and documentation
Ensure business units adhere to regulatory standards and internal policies
Supervise, coach, and develop risk and compliance analysts
Allocate workload, set performance expectations, and provide ongoing feedback
Promote a collaborative environment that encourages growth, quality, and accountability
Conduct and assist in complex case investigation (i.e., post-mortem &, enhanced due diligence reviews)
Develop, manage, and deliver both scheduled and ad hoc reports related to Compliance and Risk metrics, utilizing WAS’s data lake and other relevant data sources
Collaborate cross-functionally on initiatives where Risk & Compliance involvement is critical, ensuring alignment and effective execution
Collects, analyzes and summarizes data trends and advises management of insights
Effectively communicate status’ and manage Risk’s Persistent Monitoring Program for senior management as well as executive metric and oversight reporting
Monitor and analyze card scheme payment processing regulations to ensure payment products continue to operate in a manner consistent with payment network card rules
Track the health of the platform and identify and propose remedies to close any compliance gaps
Conduct regular audits and assessments of accounts to ensure adherence to card scheme requirements
Evaluate compliance risks associated with different types of merchants and industries
Develop techniques, tools, policies, and procedures that support business’ risk mitigation and compliance strategies; updates existing compliance policies and procedures
Create and deliver training programs for internal and external use
Contribute to ongoing streamlining of current processes and identifying areas for improvement
Manage vendor onboarding and vendor lifecycle requirements through WAS approved vendor management tools and systems
Produce vendor management reporting for the monthly regulatory/card brand meeting. Prepares to update the team on current vendor status’ as well as any vendors that need to be updated prior to vendors falling out of compliance with vendor requirements
Communicate effectively with peers, management and other stakeholders when requesting information, addressing concerns or findings, building relationships and serving as a liaison between multiple groups
Assist with and respond to internal and external audits, examinations and requests for information including evaluation of audit and examination findings. Ensures the implementation of corrective action and needed responses in a timely manner
Performs research and analysis on industry’s best practices and regulatory requirements that may impact Merchant Acquiring programs, projects or processes; monitors new or changing standards; updates programs, procedures, or processes when applicable
Immediately addresses identified quality assurance matters and recommends corrective action as appropriate to management
Qualification
Required
4+ years' relevant industry experience required, in a Risk or Compliance position (i.e., payments, merchant services, card brands, etc.)
2+ years experience in a leadership capacity, such as Lead, Supervisor, or higher
Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy with the ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines
Familiarity with banking policies, procedures, laws and regulations as they relate to the Bank Secrecy Act with working knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering and Suspicious Activity Report review and filing requirements
Proficiency with, or ability to quickly gain proficiency with, banking account monitoring and compliance software tools, and Microsoft Office applications
Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, with abilities in analyzing data patterns and investigating customer transactions
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task, maintain accuracy, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism while interacting with regulators, customers, and internal team members
Ability to follow directions, apply proper policies, procedures and guidelines when making decisions based on analysis of data and patterns
Self-starter possessing the ability to work independently while supporting a team environment
Must be able to maintain a strict level of confidentiality
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Banking, Finance, or related field preferred
CAMs or other Risk and Compliance Certification is a plus
