Responsibilities

Establish audit objectives and scopes of work for conducting a variety of internal audits, analyses, and projects, including: Citywide Risk Assessments
Contract Compliance Audits
Operational, Programs, or Performance Audits
Audits of Hotel Occupancy Tax Collections and Reporting
Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Investigations or Fraud Hotline Monitoring
Special Projects
Perform internal audits to determine legal and financial compliance with applicable ordinances, regulations, and contracts, and operational and program efficiency and effectiveness
Perform audits of various City departments, programs, and systems to determine the effectiveness of programs and ensure that appropriate controls and security measures are in place
Effectively apply critical thinking skills to assess risk, conduct root cause analysis, and identify logical recommendations
Prepare and present results of audits and projects in clear and concise written reports that are communicated to the stakeholder audiences, including the City Manager and Executive Management

Required

One year (Management Auditor I) or two years (Management Auditor II) of responsible auditing experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
A CPA or CIA certification is required for the Management Auditor II
Strong attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Positive attitude

Preferred

A CPA or CIA certification is desirable for the Management Auditor I
