Clinical Engineering Specialist, Days
Norton Healthcare is seeking a Clinical Engineering Specialist to oversee the repair, calibration, and maintenance of specialized equipment technologies. The role involves inspecting, installing, and providing preventive maintenance for various clinical devices and systems while also instructing junior co-workers and evaluating departmental procedures.

Responsibilities
The incumbent responsibilities include the repair, calibration, and maintenance of specialized equipment technologies, devices, instruments, and systems
Incumbent inspects, installs, and provides preventive maintenance of specialized equipment
Specialized equipment includes but is not limited to imaging devices/systems, anesthesia delivery systems, lab equipment, vent, and others as designated by Clinical Engineering leadership
Instructs more junior co-workers and provides informal supervision
Independently evaluates, designs, and re-designs departmental procedures
Understands the clinical principles of assigned specialized equipment (must be able to consult with radiologists, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, or other providers who work with specialized equipment)
Obtains manufacturer certification to service specialized equipment
Possesses a general knowledge of related specialized equipment
Develops and recommends to Clinical Engineering leadership appropriate service strategies based on reviews of manufacturer specifications, equipment data, and applicable regulatory standards
May design and create special test set-ups to facilitate testing and troubleshooting
Qualification
Required
With Associate degree: Three years repair and maintenance of complex clinical equipment
Without Associate degree: Completion of Electronics or U.S. Military Biomedical equipment technology program and Three years repair and maintenance of complex clinical equipment
Preferred
Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician
Certified Laboratory Equipment Specialist
Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist
