Industrial Hygienist (Mecklenburg) Temporary
N.C. Department of Information Technology is focused on providing solid Human Resource management and oversight. They are seeking an Industrial Hygienist to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control environmental hazards to human health, particularly in response to public health emergencies.

Responsibilities
Function as a member of a public health advisory group
Assist local responders in assessment of cases
Participate in conducting environmental and human exposure assessment
Coordinate environmental data gathering and sharing
Develop and conduct educational programs
Assessment of airborne infection isolation rooms
Participate in emergency planning and coordination meetings
Provide early assistance in environmental investigation
Coordinate and participate in exercises that test public health response plans
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in industrial hygiene with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, physics, mechanical engineering, or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or Bachelor's degree in chemistry, physics, industrial hygiene, mechanical engineering, or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in industrial hygiene inspections; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Formal training and experience in a broad range of public health and industrial hygiene issues and ability to communicate issues
Knowledge of technical information of industrial hygiene, epidemiology, emergency management principles, microbiology and infectious disease, risk assessment, and chemical, biological, and radiological hazards
Ability to conduct training, communicate technical information effectively to a non-technical audience, and work independently and be self-motivated
Knowledge of industrial processes, potential hazards and control equipment and methods as well as knowledge of industrial hygiene sampling techniques
Preferred
Experience in industrial hygiene public health setting or additional knowledge or training in emergency management principles, incident command systems, biological, chemical, radiological, and terrorism agents, respiratory protection, PPE selection and use, epidemiology, toxicology, microbiology, and infectious diseases
