Lead & Asbestos Certification Specialist

Wisconsin Department of Health Services is seeking a Certification Specialist in the Bureau of Environmental & Occupational Health. In this role, you will provide licensing, technical assistance, and administrative services for lead and asbestos certification programs, including reviewing applications and offering technical support to the public and regulated industries.

Responsibilities

Reviewing asbestos and lead applications for individual and company certifications for completeness and eligibility, and processing them through electronic data entry of application information, editing photos, and handling fee receipts and deposits
Recordkeeping according to applicable record disposition authorizations
Interpreting administrative rules to apply to certification issues
Providing technical assistance to the public and regulated industries relating to certification and administrative requirements
Performing reception duties including answering the program’s main telephone lines and email inbox, processing incoming mail, operating computer equipment, and performing other office administrative tasks
Contributing to strategic planning work in the Section as well as identifying, planning, and implementing program quality improvements through efficiencies and other methods

Qualification

Customer service experienceDatabase entry skillsRegulationsProcess improvement experienceFluency in HmongFluency in Spanish

Required

Experience performing customer service tasks (e.g., providing instructions, answering questions, resolving customer complaints/conflict, etc.)
Experience processing requests (e.g., applications for certification/licensure, program participation, insurance claims, etc.) using written procedures, policies, or administrative rule requirements to determine eligibility or coverage
Experience entering records into a database or spreadsheet and reviewing entered records for accuracy using sorting and filtering functions

Preferred

Experience working with laws and regulations related to certification/licensing or to public health
Experience working on projects to improve customer experience or work processes
Fluent in Spanish or Hmong
