PCB Supplier Quality Engineer

Responsibilities

Support PCB procurement, program management, manufacturing, and engineering with all supplier quality related activities
Report to the office to act as a Receiving Inspection liaison to assist with material discrepancies and visual findings
Regularly attend and participate in the PCB Control Board; As a sitting member you will help support discussion on new suppliers, track PCB receipts and dispositions, and propose or support additional testing required to vet suspect PCB production lots
Maintain a relationship with the SEAKR PCB Layout and Hardware Engineering teams, to maintain a high-level overview and understanding of new design challenges, need for new material laminates or resin systems, evolutions in signal integrity design and plating finishes
Conduct on-site supplier quality audits of key Parylene and PCB fabrication houses, including drafting and maintaining electronic records of supplier surveillance reports in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
Communicate non-conformances to supplier and request, track, and help implement corrective/preventive action where necessary
Support Supplier Quality Engineering and other Program Teams in disposition of non-conforming product, include generation of Approval Waivers and the presentation and defense of SEAKR’s technical approach and disposition to Customers
Work with Procurement, other SQE/Component Engineers to vet and onboard new suppliers

Required

Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering field; applicable years of direct experience may substitute for an engineering degree
Minimum of 5 or more years of experience in printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing processes, specifically involving strengthening processes that will reduce defects, reduce receiving inspections, and reduce company risk
Experience in product assurance and quality systems, and/or exposure to ISO9001/AS9100, IPC-A600, IPC-6012/6013
Knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes, common defects and problems, and how those non-conformances impact overall reliability of the product
Able to travel (10%-25% typical, up to 50% of time per month) to perform supplier surveys, audits, assessments, and inspections
Strong communication skills to interface effectively with internal customers and external suppliers on quality and quality control issues
Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation such as drawing dimensions and mechanical/electronic inspection methods/reports
Ability to successfully operate as part of a multi-functional team, including engineering, program management, supply chain, and manufacturing
Ability to accept direction from immediate supervisor as well as company officers
Background in performing root cause analysis (5 Whys, 8D, Fishbone, Pareto, FMEA), and identifying solutions to complex problems
Exhibits a professional demeanor at all times; grounded and professionally confident and comfortable making risk-based assessments
Knowledge of quality systems and supply chain quality functions and documentation
Effective time management and skillfulness at task prioritization
Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred

Familiarity and experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements
Experience improving supplier performance through metrics
Experience leading process improvement projects with Agile, Six Sigma, Lean or equivalent
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
