Responsibilities
Investigates allegations of suspected intentional program violations, specifically the trafficking of EBT benefits, within the SNAP program
Ensures all investigations are conducted in accordance and compliance with state and federal laws and regulations and established DHS policy and procedures
Organized and evaluates data from various sources, utilizing research methods, interviewing skills and excellent proficiency in the use of technology to compile clear and concise investigative reports according to established procedures
Coordinates pre-investigative, investigative and post investigative efforts with internal administration, prosecutors and state and federal agencies and other sources, as appropriate
Ensures all evidence is handled properly within the appropriate chain of custody. Provides expert testimony in administrative hearings and criminal court
Works closely with and provides training to other team members or employees of DHS
Reviews all investigations to ensure their compliance with established rules and regulations
Presents data to internal and external partners related to fraud, waste, and abuse
Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Qualification
Required
High school diploma/GED AND completion of two (2) years of coursework (90 quarter or 60 semester hours) at an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of directly related experience
OR One (1) year of experience required at the lower level Compliance Investigator 1 (PSP080) or position equivalent
Demonstrated skill in using proper procedure to compute overpayments related to the Food Stamp and TANF programs
Demonstrated skill in conducting investigations and in preparing and presenting case reports and testimony in the judicial system concerning public assistance programs and/or employee fraud
Excellent knowledge of Food Stamp, TANF and Childcare program policies and procedures
Two (2) years' experience in interpreting law, rules, and regulations
Two (2) years' experience generating and managing high volume, detailed work requiring critical thinking skills
Demonstrated ability to use proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation in reports
Advanced proficiency with the use of the Microsoft Office Suite and/or standard software applications typically used in a corporate office environment
Mathematical, problem solving and excellent analytical skills
Preferred
Three (3) years professional investigative experience at the Investigator I level
