Accountant I/II (FLEX)
NEOGOV is seeking an Accountant I/II to support the City & Borough of Juneau's Finance Department. The role involves performing complex analysis, reconciliations, and journal entries across various departments, ensuring adherence to financial best practices and supporting day-to-day financial transactions.

Responsibilities
Perform complex analysis, reconciliations and journal entries for a variety of departments within the City
Monitor revenue and expenditures regularly for accuracy and in comparison to budget for operations, grants and capital projects as well as annual year-end analysis and adjusting entries
Contribute to the development of the annual financial statements
Support departments through their day-to-day financial transactions as needed
Work with CBJ’s independent auditors, preparing work papers and answering questions
Reconciling accounts and transactions in various modules of the accounting system
Participate during busy season, generally between mid-July and mid-November, to close out the fiscal year, analyze and perform adjusting entries and close the books

Required

Associate's degree in finance, accounting, or a related area of study
Any combination of experience and/or education (i.e. post-secondary related courses, occupational endorsement/certificate) that provides the applicant the knowledge, skills, and abilities typically gained in an associate's degree in finance, accounting, or related area
One (1) year of professional level experience as a Sales Tax Compliance Accountant I or an Accountant I with the City & Borough of Juneau or equivalent elsewhere
Two (2) years of expert technical work as an Accounting Technician III with the City & Borough of Juneau or the equivalent elsewhere
A Certified Public Accountant may substitute for the required experience
