Responsibilities

Plans, manages, and executes activities for multiple projects to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished within a prescribed time frame by performing any combination of all essential duties and responsibilities
This position will be part of the xEV Regional Production Engineering (PE) group for Hybrid and Electric Vehicle products and will be responsible for activities and support for Electric Motor programs
The Controls Engineer - Robotics will establish specifications, equipment, processes, quotations, and other documentation for programs related to electric motor products
This position is specifically for the development, support, and implementation of robotic cells and stations for assembly, material handling, testing, and inspection tasks and other functions as needed
Also, this role will identify synergy potentials across programs and establish and apply best practices to drive cost effective solutions

Required

Engineering skills with a strong focus on control systems, PLC programming, robotics integration, and industrial automation
Experience with robot programming, setup, troubleshooting, and optimization for assembly or material handling processes
Ability to make quick, accurate, data-driven decisions and utilize excellent structured problem-solving skills
Well organized, attention to detail, and able to handle multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously
Strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Computer literacy with both personal computers and manufacturing systems, including knowledge of standard office software (MS Office) and programming experience
Willingness to support the corporate culture with an absolute focus on ethics and fairness
4-year university degree in electrical engineering, controls engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechatronics, or related technical field
Minimum of 3–5 years applicable experience in controls and robotics engineering

Preferred

Work experience in the automotive industry, ideally with electric motor assembly or EV component production
Experience working in a machine builder/automation equipment integrator environment
Familiarity with industrial robots (preferably Fanuc), Keyence automation components, and their integration into automated lines
Knowledge of safety systems and risk assessment for robotic cells
Work experience within the automotive industry, with emphasis on electro-mechanical devices and/or electric motor production
Knowledge of relevant quality systems, i.e. IATF 16949, and standard automotive engineering and manufacturing documentation, including DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans, and standard work instructions
Certification in structured problem-solving methods, i.e. Six Sigma
