Data Manager

SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity) is an educational non-profit dedicated to closing educational and career opportunity gaps for young people. The Data Manager will lead projects and processes within the SEO Scholars program, focusing on data collection, management, and collaboration with various teams to ensure effective data solutions and reporting.

Non-profit Organization Management

Responsibilities

Oversee national data collection and management processes to:
Track Scholars Logic Model metrics:
Collaborate with key stakeholders (R&E, IT, HSS, CS, etc.) to define project plans and data collection workflows; and
Create and maintain data collection and quality monitoring tools for various audiences
Project manage data collection standardization initiatives that involve teams from various sites and national departments/functions
Support data model and database enhancements (e.g., Salesforce, Brightspace, etc.) in collaboration with key stakeholders like IT, Online Learning, and R&E
Develop custom dataflows, datasets, visualizations and reporting in business intelligence platforms that provide various teams with data to monitor key scholar metrics and evaluate outcomes; use data prep interfaces to join/append input datasets and create aggregated measures to produce output datasets for reports and dashboards
Collect database business requirements from various SEO Scholars teams and, alongside IT, translate them into efficient and effective solutions that meet organizational needs
Support the integration of Salesforce with other data systems through collaboration with key Programs staff (e.g., Recruitment & Admissions, Operations), Curriculum & Instruction staff (e.g., Online Learning), College Scholars (Ops), etc
Document data entry and management procedures for key metrics to ensure data quality over time, and to support cross-functional collaboration and clear handoffs between teams
Make recommendations to various teams on data practices for the student data-related technical systems they use (e.g., Salesforce, FormAssembly, Brightspace, survey software, Google products, etc.)
Identify opportunities, recommend, and execute strategies for streamlining existing databases and processes and using new data tools
Conduct mass inserts and updates of key scholar data into Salesforce and other databases; train staff to conduct their own
Support R&E program evaluation efforts, including analyses, reports, presentations and workshops that facilitate discussion of program monitoring and evaluation results and their implications; support staff in operationalizing learnings from such initiatives
Periodically support the design and implementation of new methods for quantitative and qualitative data collection (surveys, focus groups and interview protocols, observation rubrics, etc.)
Create and facilitate training and other capacity building initiatives for staff on best practices around data entry, management and reporting
Serve as SEO’s representative in partnerships or information sharing relationships with peer and other organizations about data management, access and reporting best practices
Recruit and hire Data Management interns in collaboration with People & Culture team
Train and manage Data Management intern(s) with support from R&E team
Participate in cross-functional collaboration including standing meetings and other special projects
Perform other seasonal/ad hoc projects, as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree required
2-3 years of experience with database management, including leading database development and/or enhancements
Experience creating data assets (e.g. custom datasets) for reporting using data prep tools like CRM Analytics recipes (Salesforce), Tableau Prep, Domo (Brightspace), Amazon Quicksight, etc
Experience creating reporting tools and products (e.g. Salesforce/Tableau reports & dashboards)
Experience managing technical projects using project management tools (e.g., Monday.com, JIRA)
Advanced Excel skills and some experience with SQL queries required

Preferred

Experience as a Salesforce administrator, including process automation and integrations with other systems
Familiarity with R or Python
