LABORATORY EVIDENCE CONTROL SPECIALIST

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is seeking a Laboratory Evidence Control Specialist for its Office of Forensic Sciences. This role's primary purpose is to serve as an expert in evidence matters, providing authoritative assistance and advice regarding the legal handling of evidence to various law enforcement personnel.

Responsibilities

Serving as the Evidence Control Specialist assigned to an Office of Forensic Science Field Laboratories
Receiving, logging, securing, tracking, and disposing of physical evidence collected during criminal investigations
Maintaining an evidence ledger to show accountability by cross-referencing evidence with the evidence custody document
Assigning evidence document numbers and locations within the Evidence Vault for each piece of evidence and establishes an automated program to track each piece of evidence

Required

U.S. Citizenship is required
Employment is subject to the successful completion of a background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Incumbent is subject to random drug testing
Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Selective Service: Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
Selectee will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period
All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment
Applicant must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license while employed in the position
