Civil Litigation Attorney
The Brooklyn District Attorney's Office is seeking an experienced and motivated attorney to join its Civil Litigation Unit and FOIL Unit. This role involves representing the Office in civil litigation, handling subpoenas, and advising on employment law and other internal civil legal matters.

Responsibilities
Representing the Office in state and federal civil litigation
Coordinating with the New York City Law Department on civil actions filed against the Office
Responding to and frequently litigating subpoenas and FOIL requests served on the Office
Handling Article 78 proceedings
Preparing and defending witnesses for civil depositions
Negotiating and drafting civil contracts entered into by the Office (including complex commercial contracts)
Negotiating and drafting civil settlement agreements
Representing assistant district attorneys before the Second Department’s Attorney Ethics Committee
Representing the Office and its employees before the Equal Employment Opportunity (“EEO”) Commission and the New York State Division of Human Rights
Representing the Office in administrative hearings, including, but not limited to, hearings pursuant to Section 75 of the New York State Civil Service Law
Advising the District Attorney, and his executive staff, on employment law and other internal civil legal matters
Qualification
Required
A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a practicing attorney
Strong legal research and writing skills
Experience making legal arguments in court
A positive, collaborative attitude and willingness to learn new practice areas
Reliability and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
