Electrical Test Engineer

Responsibilities

Provide engineering test support for technology development of advanced dynamic energy conversion concepts
Support the design, development, troubleshooting, and testing of test stations for dynamic energy conversion technology in support of radioisotope power systems development
Test Stirling convertors and identify methodologies, instrumentation, and supporting test equipment as needed
Support the set-up of test hardware, data systems, and related support equipment and evaluate and document test results
Support Stirling convertor system testing in the Stirling Research Lab, the Structural Dynamics Lab, the EMI lab, and thermal/vacuum test facilities

Required

Ability to configure electrical circuits, power supplies, and instrumentation for testing
Proficiency with multimeters, oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, and signal conditioning
Experience with test rack design and testing
Strong diagnostic skills for electrical faults and system anomalies
Facility and/or power system test support experience
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to write test plans, procedures, schematics, and detailed reports
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5 to 10 years of experience; at least 8 years of experience is preferred
Master's degree with 3 to 6 years of experience
Ph.D. with 0 to 3 years of experience
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation

Preferred

Experience operating and preparing test setups for thermal energy conversion engines
Familiarity with thermal to electric systems is a plus
Familiarity with power management and distribution systems is a plus
Python experience is a plus
