The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office is seeking an attorney to serve as the Unit Chief of the Parole, Clemency, and Sealing Unit. This role involves reviewing inmate cases for parole, advising on clemency petitions, handling litigation under sealing statutes, and educating the public on sealing laws.

Drafting memoranda on post-conviction cases for review by the Office’s Post-Conviction Review Committee and presentation to the DA
Answering sealing motions and arguing at hearings under CPL 160.59
Answering motions filed under CPL 720.20(5)
Supervising support staff
Qualification
Required
Attorney with experience in post-conviction cases
Ability to draft memoranda on post-conviction cases for review
Experience in answering sealing motions and arguing at hearings under CPL 160.59
Experience in answering motions filed under CPL 720.20(5)
Supervisory experience with support staff
Preferred
Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills
Knowledge of the New York Penal and Criminal Procedure Laws
