Assistant Distribution Center Manager (Overnight)

This role is responsible for supporting the Distribution Center Manager in managing overall distribution center activities, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining compliance across multiple airport locations.

Responsibilities
Assists with managing inventory accuracy including transportation of orders/returns to multiple locations, product rotation, temperature control procedures, and reverse logistics using SAP, CrunchTime, and distribution management systems
Supervises day-to-day distribution center activities including staff scheduling, shift coverage, and operational continuity while providing excellent service to multiple airport locations in receiving, processing, and distributing merchandise for retail and F&B operations
Supports vendor relationship management to ensure proper stock levels support sales objectives across served locations; assists with coordinating distribution operations across retail, restaurants, and duty-free shops while helping resolve delivery issues, shortages, and quality concerns
Assists with monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) including inbound throughput, labor efficiency, and operational metrics across multiple locations; supports implementation of contingency plans for distribution center operations
Supports compliance with U.S. Customs, FDA, and other regulatory bodies; assists with maintaining accurate records especially for bonded merchandise
Assists with enforcing food safety protocols including FIFO stock rotation, expiration date monitoring, and food safety compliance; participates in Quality Assurance activities and maintains security of food storage areas
Supports training, coaching, and development of distribution center staff while assisting with performance management following company policies and union agreements where applicable
Maintains distribution center organization including fixtures, equipment storage, bin locations, and physical inventory processes; reviews incoming orders from multiple locations and ensures accurate data entry into systems
Assists with communication and collaboration with airport management teams across served locations to support operational goals while coordinating between associates and management teams
Operates company vehicles safely and maintains compliance with all transportation and safety requirements for multi-location distribution operations
Qualification
Required
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience leading distribution center, supply chain, and/or logistics teams serving multiple locations
Experience managing in a unionized environment (CBA) preferred
5 years of experience in distribution operations, inventory management, or supply chain coordination with multi-location responsibility
High school diploma or GED required
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related program can count for 2 of the 6-year requirement
2 years minimum driving experience with valid state driver's license
Excellent time management and prioritization skills with ability to support multiple concurrent distribution operations across locations and maintain accuracy in inventory tracking and data entry processes
Valid driver's license with clean driving record and ability to operate commercial vehicles and heavy distribution equipment safely
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (intermediate Excel for reporting) and ability to learn distribution management systems including SAP and CrunchTime quickly
Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with multiple airport locations, vendors, team members, and management while reading and comprehending technical instructions and policy documents
Problem-solving abilities to resolve operational issues across multiple locations and escalate complex matters appropriately
Demonstrated history of understanding the needs of multiple business locations, stakeholders, the employee population, and individual circumstances
Demonstrated history of creating and maintaining positive work environments
Preferred
Experience managing in a unionized environment (CBA)
Basic understanding of food safety protocols and HACCP principles
Training that leads to an understanding of U.S. Customs and FDA regulatory compliance requirements
Distribution and warehouse management systems training (SAP, CrunchTime preferred)
OSHA safety and hazardous material handling awareness
CDL or commercial truck driving experience preferred but not required, especially in urban locations
