Sr Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities
Lead cross-functional teams to ensure seamless collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain disciplines. Drive accountability, resolve conflicts, and ensure the team meets technical, cost, and schedule objectives for program success
Manage program budgets and schedules using Earned Value Management principles. Track project performance, control costs, and develop accurate forecasts to ensure financial objectives are met. Communicate status updates to stakeholders and leadership effectively
Provide technical guidance, career development support, and constructive feedback to junior engineers. Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment where team members can grow their skills and contribute to project success
Conduct thorough reviews of mechanical designs, engineering drawings, and documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards, internal requirements, and customer specifications. Provide constructive feedback to enhance design quality, manufacturability, and performance
Serve as a key contributor to MRB activities by resolving non-conformances, analyzing root causes, and implementing corrective actions. Support production teams by addressing technical challenges, ensuring smooth transitions from design to manufacturing, and resolving build-related issues promptly
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve engineering processes, and enhance team efficiency. Develop and implement best practices, tools, and methodologies to drive continuous improvement and maintain a culture of operational excellence
Work closely with other engineering disciplines, program management, and external suppliers to align technical objectives and ensure product integrity throughout the lifecycle. Build strong working relationships to achieve shared goals and deliver high-quality outcomes
Apply sound engineering principles and creative problem-solving techniques to overcome technical challenges. Develop innovative solutions that meet customer needs while maintaining cost and schedule constraints
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related discipline
10 or more years of relevant experience
Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
Understanding of engineering principles and practices
Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools
Familiarity with working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
2 years of previous team lead experience
General Understanding of Aircraft Certification requirements and regulations
Ability to obtain and maintain United States Secret Security Clearance
Preferred
Experience applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
Understanding of Engineering Simulation such as Finite Element structural analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Thermal Analysis
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing, and production processes
Cost Account and Earned Value Management
