Principal, Supplier Quality Engineer

Responsibilities

Manage supplier quality performance through prevention, monitoring/escalation processes, processing of supplier submission of non-conforming material. Manage/Support supplier qualification/ certification
Manage source inspection and material release processes
Perform Escape management procedures, drive root cause analysis & problem solving and recommend corrective and preventive action for systemic supplier process and product materials
Support first article inspection (FAI) verification/inspection
Support internal meetings as the supplier quality liaison for quality issues and concerns related to development and production products
Implement and maintain Quality Inspection Plans defining dimensional, functional, and visual checks on purchased product
Plan, organize, direct, and report on special process related activities to assure engineering requirements are met for special processes
Work with suppliers to ensure products meet defined standards. Examine data related to quality control to identify trends, patterns, and areas for process improvement
Analyze quality data to identify systemic issues and develop supplier specific quality initiative strategies; addressing them with key proactive quality tools (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, SPC, etc.), as well as driving their implementation
Work with production, engineering, and other teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions. Ability to work autonomously with limited oversight
Identify opportunities for process optimization and participate in quality improvement projects
Ensures that supplier is capable to meet all contract requirements including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance as required
Participate in factory acceptance testing and verification with customers and site teams as needed
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partner with program leadership teams to define and implement quality improvement strategies
Responsible for the completion of ad-hoc assignments as directed
Up to 25% domestic travel

Required

Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME 14.5
Experience with Quality Management Systems, to include ISO 9001, AS9100 and/or AS9102
Experience with failure analysis, root cause analysis, corrective and preventative actions
Experience with technical data package review (TDP) and document repository

Preferred

Experience with CORE or other Continuous Improvement Programs
Working experience using resources such as 5S, Process Mapping/Analysis, Lean Six Sigma, Red X
Experience with Quality Notification process within SAP
Experience using quality tools (e.g., Pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping)
Experience with industry technical standards, interpreting drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), process disciplines and tool control
Experience with Key Characteristics, Design Failure Modes, and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Production Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and/or Control Plans
Experience interpreting technical drawings
Knowledge of First Article Inspections per AS9102
Ability to comprehend and translate system requirements as well as contractual requirements to ensure full compliance is flowed down through product, assembly, and test documentation
Ability to work as an individual contributor and in a dynamic team environment
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work well with customers, suppliers, and in a team environment
