Responsibilities

Collaborates with the Dean and other development teams, develops, plans, and implements strategies to secure philanthropic support from individuals, corporations, and foundations that align with the College's campaign and fundraising priorities. Oversees all fundraising activities and leads the development of donor cultivation efforts, proposals, solicitations, and stewardship plans. Actively manages a personal portfolio of potential donors and prospects. Sets and achieves annual fundraising and development goals
Provides expert fundraising guidance to the Dean and other academic and administrative leaders in setting priorities for external and community relations, stewardship, special events, fundraising, and alumni engagement. Prepares and supports the Dean and other leaders in all development and alumni-related activities
Meets with and personally solicits support from previous and potential donors to the University on campus, nationally, internationally and throughout the community to cultivate and solicit prospects
Serves as the principal liaison to the Deans Council and other College boards. Provides guidance on the recruitment and engagement of key alumni and community leaders to College volunteer leadership positions in support of fundraising strategies. Supports industry relations efforts
Monitors progress towards achieving fundraising goals and produces and evaluates reports related to fundraising and development program activity and production. Provides regular updates to the Dean, University Advancement Assistant Vice President, and the senior leadership of the College
Serves as a key member of the University Advancement team. Participates in university-wide prospect management, cultivation and stewardship of donors and prospects. Develops and implements a strategic work plan that focuses on the internal and external objectives of the College of Business and University Advancement. Ensures the utilization of the University prospect management and tracking system and works closely with the University alumni relations
Develops and assists with the approval of fundraising publications and publicity materials for all fund-raising programs in the college and recommends to the Dean for final approval. Utilizes media channels and emerging technologies effectively to fund raise for the College
Recruits, manages, supervises, motivates, trains, develops, and retains experienced and competent professional and support staff in collaboration with the Dean and University administrators. Implements management methods to achieve College fundraising goals, including monitoring and assessment of performance. Ensures that the team comply with University policies, protocols and standards as well as achieve annual established goals
May handle donated funds in the forms of checks or negotiable securities. Accesses confidential information regarding gifts and donors
Works with the FIU Alumni Association, President's Council, Board of Trustees, FIU Foundation Board of Directors and other University stakeholders to promote support for the College and to develop and implement fundraising strategies in order to meet established goals and objectives
Communicates effectively with the College and Advancement staff. Collaborates with other University Advancement team members to inspire trust, encourage creative thinking, and collaborate with other FIU staff and volunteers to significantly increase gifts to FIU
Keeps apprised of business trends, leading industry issues and events locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Seeks and consistently demonstrates a commitment to ongoing learning and knowledge of the College and its role, impact and influence on our global community and, conversely, the impact and influence global trends have on the College
Represents the University and/or the college at public functions as needed
Displays honesty, integrity and ethics to donors at all times in the performance of duties. Must also display a high degree of confidentiality. Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits

Serves as the chief fundraising and solicitation officer for the College of Business (COB)
Provides strategic and operational leadership to build, implement, manage and grow a comprehensive fundraising program
