Customs Entry Writer

Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and file U.S. import entries including 01 Consumption, 06 Warehouse, 10 Temporary Importation under Bond, and 11 Informal entries
Accurately classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS)
Determine correct valuation, country of origin, duty rates, and eligibility for free trade agreements
Ensure timely and compliant submission of entries through ACE and ABI systems
Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, arrival notices, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance
Coordinate with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, FDA, USDA, EPA, DOT, and other Partner Government Agencies as required
Manage post-entry amendments, corrections, and protests where applicable
Monitor and resolve Customs holds, exams, CF28s, and CF29s
Maintain audit-ready files in accordance with recordkeeping requirements under 19 CFR
Communicate clearance status and compliance issues clearly to internal operations teams and clients
Support internal compliance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

Required

Proven experience as a Customs Entry Writer or Import Specialist within a licensed U.S. Customs Broker
Strong working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, and valuation principles
Hands-on experience with ACE, ABI, and brokerage operating systems
Familiarity with PGA requirements including FDA, USDA, EPA, and DOT
High attention to detail with a strong compliance mindset
Ability to manage multiple entries under time-sensitive clearance deadlines
Clear, professional communication skills with internal and external stakeholders

Preferred

Customs Broker License is preferred but not required
