Lead Electrical Estimator
Project Talent Partners is a fast-growing engineering and industrial construction organization seeking a driven and detail-oriented Senior Estimator. This role supports electrical and controls projects by developing accurate, competitive estimates and collaborating with engineering, preconstruction, and project management teams.
Responsibilities
Lead the development of design-build estimates, guiding engineers and estimators on scope definition and inclusions
Coordinate internal teams and external subcontractors to ensure timely and complete estimate deliverables
Produce comprehensive estimates based on proposal documents for a variety of design-build projects
Review and evaluate project documentation including drawings, specifications, technical data, and commercial terms
Develop conceptual and preliminary estimates using limited or early-stage project information
Collaborate with project management to establish preliminary schedules, logistics plans, and execution strategies
Prepare detailed self-perform estimates including labor hours, materials, equipment, and productivity assumptions
Develop subcontractor pricing through detailed takeoffs, vendor solicitations, and quote analysis
Organize and maintain estimate documentation in accordance with internal standards
Calculate indirect project costs including staffing plans, site logistics, temporary facilities, and support services
Coordinate with project stakeholders—including designers, owners, subcontractors, and internal operations—throughout the preconstruction and design-build process
Incorporate field input into final pricing to ensure constructability and execution alignment
Draft written proposals for internal review prior to client submission
Track estimate progress and communicate status updates to estimating leadership
Participate in project handoff reviews at both project kickoff and closeout
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating large-scale estimating efforts
Ability to make sound decisions under aggressive timelines and evolving project information
Strong business judgment with the ability to build effective relationships with subcontractors and vendors
Skilled in identifying, assessing, and managing project risk
Advanced ability to interpret electrical and controls drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation
Strong understanding of market conditions, trade trends, and cost drivers
Microsoft 365, with advanced Excel skills
Electrical estimating software (e.g., ConEst or equivalent)
Digital takeoff tools such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar platforms
Scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or comparable tools
Digital document and file management systems
Bachelor's degree preferred in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
Equivalent electrical field experience considered in lieu of formal education
5–10 years of experience in electrical construction estimating, with design-build exposure strongly preferred
Preferred
State electrical license
Prior project management experience
Advanced proficiency with electrical estimating software
Proven track record of successful, profitable project awards
