Environmental Health & Safety Intern
Barrett Industries Corporation, a subsidiary of Colas USA, is seeking a motivated Environment Health & Safety Intern to support their construction and materials operations. The internship offers hands-on exposure to safety practices across road construction projects, asphalt manufacturing plants, and quarry operations, allowing interns to gain practical experience in workplace safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
Support the safety team in promoting a strong culture of safety across job sites and facilities
Participate in site inspections and safety observations to help identify and reduce potential hazards
Assist with safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee safety communications
Help maintain safety documentation, records, and compliance-related materials
Work alongside Safety Specialists to learn OSHA, MSHA, and other applicable safety regulations
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to safety awareness and best practices
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program related to Safety Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field
Interest in workplace safety and regulatory compliance
Strong communication skills and willingness to engage with field teams
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Detail-oriented with good organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Valid driver's license
Ability to travel to local job sites as needed
Ability to work in an active construction and industrial environment
