Reardon Yacht Consulting (RYC) is looking for a highly experienced Senior Technical Yacht Manager with extensive engineering and vessel operations expertise. This role is responsible for overseeing technical operations for private and charter yachts, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective vessel operations.

Responsibilities

Lead technical management for assigned vessels, including maintenance planning, defect resolution, and lifecycle oversight
Ensure compliance with flag, class, insurer, and regulatory requirements
Act as technical lead for refits, yard periods, upgrades, and major projects
Develop scopes of work, manage RFPs, evaluate proposals, and oversee contractors
Provide cost forecasting, budget input, and technical risk assessments
Maintain detailed technical records and transparent owner reporting
Work closely with captains, engineers, vendors, shipyards, and surveyors
Support audits, surveys, certifications, and safety management processes

Required

Significant experience as a Chief Engineer, Captain, Marine/Mechanical Engineer, Naval Architect, or within class/flag organizations is mandatory
Strong working knowledge of onboard systems (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, AVIT, hydraulics) is required
Proven experience managing refits, yard periods, and technical projects
Financial acumen, including budgeting and cost-efficiency strategies
Familiarity with IMO regulations (ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW)
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Excellent communication skills and owner-facing professionalism
Willingness to travel internationally as required

Preferred

Operational familiarity with Florida and Caribbean cruising preferred
