Technical Recruiting Specialist - Building Automation & Controls

Responsibilities
Serve as the primary recruiting point of contact for Smart Technology and Controls hiring, owning end to end talent delivery across assigned roles
Own full cycle recruiting for 20 to 30 active requisitions focused on building automation, controls, and related technical positions
Partner closely with the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and hiring leaders to define role scope, technical requirements, and hiring priorities
Lead intake discussions to translate business and technical needs into clear recruiting strategies before launching searches
Evaluate and screen technical talent across BAS, controls, PLC, SCADA, and intelligent building systems, balancing technical qualifications and cultural alignment
Manage end to end interview coordination, including scheduling, logistics, timelines, and follow ups, to keep searches moving efficiently
Drive a consistent, high quality candidate experience through clear communication from initial contact through offer acceptance
Drive offer preparation and coordination, ensuring accuracy, alignment, and a smooth transition from acceptance to onboarding
Maintain accurate and reliable data within the ATS and recruiting systems to support hiring decisions and reporting
Continuously improve recruiting effectiveness by refining job descriptions, sourcing strategies, workflows, and use of recruiting tools
Collaborate with HR, Operations, and Business leaders to ensure recruiting efforts align with broader organizational goals
Actively source and engage qualified candidates for Building Automation & Controls roles, including but not limited to controls engineers, BAS designers, commissioning specialists, programmers, and field technicians
Develop and execute targeted sourcing strategies using multiple channels, including LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, industry-specific platforms, professional associations, referrals, and passive candidate outreach
Build and maintain talent pipelines for hard-to-fill and specialized Building Automation & Controls positions to support current and future hiring needs
Partner closely with hiring managers and technical leaders to understand required skill sets, certifications, system experience (e.g., Siemens, Tridium, Honeywell, Johnson Controls), and project or field-based expectations
Conduct initial outreach and screening conversations to assess candidate technical competencies, project experience, geographic flexibility, and cultural alignment
Track sourcing activity, candidate engagement, and pipeline health within the ATS, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting
Stay informed on labor market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging talent within the Building Automation & Controls industry to proactively adjust sourcing strategies
Maintain and update templates
Support employee engagement initiatives
Work collaboratively to assist with documenting HR procedures and processes with an eye toward streamlining and automating where possible to improve department efficiency
Provide general HR support as needed, including assisting with special projects, research, or administrative tasks to support team priorities and business needs

Qualification
Required
5+ years of recruiting experience, including direct exposure to building automation, controls, or closely related technical domains
Demonstrated ability to recruit and assess technical talent in engineering and field-based environments
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
Comfortable operating with minimal supervision while taking on increasing ownership and strategic responsibility
Proficiency with modern applicant tracking and HR systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
Advanced ability to recruit for Building Automation & Controls (BAS) roles by understanding and evaluating technical competencies related to BAS and EPMS project design, including system standards, client requirements, and design options
Demonstrated skill in accurately assessing candidate experience in BAS and EPMS environments, with strong attention to detail throughout resume review, screening, and interview processes
Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), supported by exceptional organizational and file management skills to manage high-volume recruiting workflows
Strong working knowledge of the construction and engineering design process, including project stakeholders, design phases, and typical BAS deliverables, sufficient to effectively screen and qualify candidates
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple job requisitions, competing priorities, and deadlines simultaneously
Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline recruiting workflows, improve candidate sourcing, and enhance operational efficiency
Ability to work successfully in a remote environment through effective communication, self-motivation, proactiveness, and resourcefulness in a distraction-free workspace
Ability to follow company policies and safety requirements when supporting recruiting activities related to project sites, client locations, or field-based roles
Ability to analyze and prepare recruiting-related documents, reports, and correspondence with accuracy and professionalism
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form with technical and non-technical audiences, including candidates, hiring managers, and leadership
Ability to communicate directly with candidates and hiring managers and, when appropriate, serve as a primary point of contact throughout the hiring process
Ability to work successfully both independently and as part of a collaborative HR and recruiting team with limited supervision
Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced recruiting environment
Ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate recruiting activities across multiple roles and departments
Ability to support, mentor, and guide junior recruiters or recruiting coordinators as needed
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
A recognized HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP
Equivalent professional recruiting experience
Minimum of 5 years of recruiting experience
Preferred
Experience recruiting PLC and/or SCADA professionals strongly preferred
Rippling experience preferred
