The Texas Department Of Criminal Justice is seeking an Administrative Assistant III in their Business and Finance Division. Government Administration
Responsibilities
Provides technical assistance work; receives, monitors, and tracks data and documents; prepares, edits, and distributes correspondence, reports, studies, forms, and other documents; preforms complex typing; and maintains filing and record keeping systems
Researches, composes, designs, edits, and distributes correspondence, reports, studies, forms, and other documents; and responds to inquiries regarding rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Assists in the development of administrative and technical assistance policies and procedures; and participates in the planning and execution of an agency program
Coordinates meetings and schedules appointments; and coordinates work with organizational units of the agency
Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed
Qualification
Required
Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED
One year full-time, wage-earning customer service, clerical, secretarial, administrative support, technical program support, or criminal justice experience. Fifteen semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) may be substituted for each six months of experience
Knowledge of office practices and procedures
Knowledge of business terminology, spelling, punctuation, and grammar
Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely
Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public
Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Skill in problem-solving techniques
Skill in the electronic transmission of communications
Skill in the use of computers and related equipment in a stand-alone or local area network environment
Skill to prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports
Preferred
Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent to include word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software programs
Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent to include word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software programs
Skill to type 45 words per minute (with no more than 10 errors)
