Senior Practitioner- Women' Services (Transition to Practice Programs)

The Senior Practitioner - Women's Services will serve as an educational leader, designing and overseeing educational programs for nurses at various stages of practice, while collaborating with stakeholders to meet educational needs.

Responsibilities

Serve as the system liaison for all Women’s Services educators across multiple campuses
Design, develop, and deliver educational programs and training modules for Women’s Services
Lead and support the Nurse Fellowship Program and the NRP program
Provide teaching, mentoring, and professional development support for new nurses, fellows, and experienced staff
Collaborate with interdisciplinary stakeholders to identify educational needs and support system-wide initiatives
Actively participate in and lead projects related to education, quality, and professional practice
Ensure consistency and standardization of Women’s Services education across all locations
Performs competency management job functions including needs assessment, gap analysis and monitoring of compliance
Builds upon competency management functions to include precepting new educators, analysis and management of competencies
Develops and disseminates all levels of educational content/programs utilizing various learning methods/domains
Uses education design process to plan implement and evaluate educational initiatives to address progress gaps
Applies strategies to facilitate professional development based on Nursing Professional Development (NDP) standards of practice
Develops interprofessional collaboration with learners and other stakeholders utilizing effective communication
Collaborate/initiates Evidence Based Practice (EBP) projects/research/quality improvement projects
Identifies and offers strategies to support orientation progression
Coaches and provides feedback to preceptors and orientees and assesses orientation progress
Monitors the internal and external environments for opportunities and challenges that may affect professional practice gaps
Plans for learning, change and professional role competence and growth
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as a resource to less experienced staff
Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann’s service standards of providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and our workforce

Required

Active RN license, BSN
Minimum of 2 years of RN clinical experience
Minimum of 3 years of education-related experience
Labor & Delivery and/or Women's Services clinical experience required
Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing required
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Two (2) years of nursing experience required
Three (3) years of education-related experience required
Effective oral and written communication skills

Preferred

Master's Degree or Specialty Certification
Formal education experience at a senior or system level
Experience developing educational curricula or training modules
Project leadership or project management experience
Experience working across multiple campuses or departments
Nursing Professional Development (NPD) certification preferred
