Responsibilities

Establishing the branch's managerial and administrative objectives, developing long-range processing, incentive, organizational design, call center, and/or eOPF plans, and identifying required resources
Utilizing subordinate supervisors and leads to oversee the work of the branch, assuring reasonable equity among performance standards, and making decisions on problems presented by subordinate supervisors
Making decisions and resolving problems that involve interpretation of the law or unusual situations requiring the unique application of policy
Monitoring key individual and organizational performance reports and metrics to determine if established fiscal year targets and goals will be met while taking action within one's control to address accordingly
Creating, updating, and/or improving current business practices to determine new and more efficient ways of delivering products and services

Required

You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position
Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service
Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years
All pre-employment processes will be conducted in English
You may be required to pass a background investigation
CBP follows the DHS Drug-Free Workplace Plan for drug testing procedures
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process
Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 02/05/2026
Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet the requirement for GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations
You must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of your initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment
You may be required to serve an 18 month probationary period upon appointment
If you have never worked for the federal government, you are not CTAP/ICTAP eligible

Preferred

Identifying, evaluating, and recommending solutions to complex problems in the areas of processing, staffing, and/or records management
Developing, refining, and presenting recommended Human Resources business practices and processes to implement complex plans and policy guidance that improve organizational performance and efficiency
Using analytics to make data-driven decisions to evaluate HR processes and results obtained against agency strategic plans, goals, and objectives
Leading a team of Human Resources professionals by managing organizational projects or groups for formulating and implementing new HR policies or programs, while providing oversight and support to subordinates
