Fellow Civil/Structural Engineer
Edgewater Technical Associates, LLC is seeking qualified candidates for a Fellow Civil/Structural Engineer opportunity to support the Savannah River Site. The role involves applying technical expertise to resolve complex engineering problems, providing leadership in technical solutions, and developing plans and schedules for major technical tasks.

Responsibilities
Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields and use other technical resources within the company to resolve complex problems
Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning
Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise
Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise
Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world
Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers
Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them
Lead task teams to develop solutions to more complex problems
Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management
Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed. Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements
Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups
Prepare reports for external publication
Qualification
Required
An advanced Civil Engineering degree and relevant experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' experience, OR a MS degree and 12 years' experience OR a BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience
Must demonstrate 8 years of recent experience in design and analysis of NRC or DOE regulated nuclear facilities
Experience with finite element analysis is required
Must demonstrate working knowledge of STAAD, ANSYS or ABAQUS or similar computer codes
Must demonstrate working knowledge of National Codes and Standards; specifically, IBC, AISC (ASD, LRFD, & N690), ACI (318 & 349) and ASCE (4, 7 & 43)
Considered an internal expert in area of expertise
Contributes to advancing knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations
Can solve complex problems in field
Must be able to perform field walk-downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk-downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances over a half mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, and dressing out in protective clothing
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE 'Q' security clearance (an active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties)
Preferred
Previous SRS experience
Current Registration as a Professional Engineer in either Civil or Structural Engineering
Experience in analysis for structural response to explosions (blast/detonation and deflagration)
Experience with DOE natural phenomena hazard (NPH), Standard 1020, criteria
Possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years
