Responsibilities
Collaborate with internal engineering and product teams to transition embedded control and communication systems from early-stage lab demonstrations to fieldable prototypes
Work closely with hardware suppliers and engineering tool providers to evaluate and select solutions for complex industrial and defense applications
Advance the state of the art in embedded computing within a collaborative, innovative, and fast-paced team environment
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Strong experience with embedded C/C++ development
Coding experience with Bash, C#, Python, MATLAB, or similar languages
Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as hypervisors and Docker containers
Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Legal authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available)
Willingness to work onsite at an office location in Niskayuna, NY
Preferred
Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Experience with Linux driver and kernel development
Working knowledge of Linux build systems such as Yocto
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS)
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Git/GitHub
Understanding of embedded system security concepts and techniques
Strong FPGA and SoC design experience using Verilog, SystemVerilog, and VHDL
Hands-on experience with Xilinx and/or Intel (Altera) FPGA devices, tools, and ecosystems (e.g., ModelSim, Intel Quartus, Xilinx Vivado)
Solid understanding of digital logic design, including FSMs, pipelining, and resource optimization
Experience with RTL simulation, synthesis, place-and-route, and timing closure
Knowledge of clock domain crossing (CDC) techniques and metastability mitigation
Familiarity with standard and high-speed interfaces (UART, SPI, I²C, Ethernet, PCIe, DDR)
Experience developing testbenches and performing functional verification
Proficiency with on-chip debugging tools such as ILA and SignalTap
Ability to read and interpret schematics, timing diagrams, and hardware datasheets
Experience using version control systems (Git preferred)
Exposure to high-level synthesis (HLS) tools and algorithm-to-hardware workflows, including Vitis HLS and integration with MATLAB/Simulink for model-based design and verification
