Experienced Environmental, Safety & Health Compliance Engineer Environmental
Naval Nuclear Laboratory is dedicated to ensuring the safety and reliability of the nation's naval nuclear reactors. They are seeking an experienced Environmental, Safety & Health Compliance Engineer to join their Environmental Controls team, responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and providing technical support for safety standards.

Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with Federal/State regulations and applicable DOE Orders, e.g., Consolidated State Facility Air Permit (CASFP), State Pollution Discharge Elimination System (SPDES), Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Sanitary Sewage, Petroleum Bulk Storage (PBS), Asbestos NESHAP Notifications, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and PCBs
Maintain cognizance of latest environmental regulatory monitoring and reporting requirements and developing implementation and monitoring programs to assure compliance in assigned media areas
Prepare, review, and certify accuracy of permits, reports, etc
Overview and provide technical support for quality assurance programs
Support audits and surveillances
Collaborate with engineering and production organizations and provide subject matter expertise to determine hazard controls
Conduct inspections of site facilities and provide oversight of laboratory operations, preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, building construction, renovation, and demolition
Measure, audit, and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard controls and hazard control programs to ensure compliance with safety standards and requirements
Identify and develop process improvements to ensure safe and efficient site operations, and involve personnel at all levels in developing the safety culture
Qualification
Required
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or Currently an Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company
All candidates must be U.S. citizens
Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter
FMP is a government contractor and maintains a drug free workplace and workforce
All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707
Preferred
Previous Environmental Regulatory compliance experience
Ability to work within a team and independently
Multi-task oriented
Professional Engineering (PE) license or desire to obtain
Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulatory requirements in 29 CFR 1910 and/or 29 CFR 1926 and fundamental understanding of national safety consensus standards (e.g., ANSI, NFPA)
Experience with the selection and use of industrial hygiene monitoring equipment
Strong analytical and technical writing skills
