Mid-Career Groundwater Modeler

As a Groundwater Modeler, you will apply advanced modeling and analytical skills to support impactful water resources projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities
Perform technical calculations, numerical modeling, data analysis, and design tasks ranging from basic to high complexity for groundwater and water resources projects
Support a diverse portfolio of project types, including groundwater systems, climate change adaptation, hydrology and hydraulics, flood and stormwater management, urban watersheds, water supply systems, ecosystem restoration, and water quality initiatives
Conduct site evaluations and field investigations to inform modeling assumptions and design decisions
Provide technical guidance, review, and mentorship to junior staff, supporting their development and ensuring quality technical outcomes
Review technical work prepared by junior team members for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements
Collaborate with business development and sales teams to support proposals, including technical content development and quality reviews for RFP responses
Engage with current and prospective clients to understand project needs and support the development of future work
Leverage Technical Knowledge Management (TKM) systems and resources to support project delivery and continuous learning
Contribute to the growth of the firm’s technical knowledge by raising technical questions, sharing lessons learned, and supporting development of TKM content
Prepare or support technical posters, presentations, and other materials for conferences and industry events
Perform other duties as needed to support successful project delivery
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Civil, Coastal or Chemical Engineering or related discipline
Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer)
5 years of related experience
Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands
Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Preferred
Experience using GIS tools and workflows to support spatial analysis, modeling, and technical decision‑making
Strong capability with Computer‑Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) tools, including 3D and 4D design environments and integrated model‑based workflows
Deep understanding of engineering design fundamentals and the ability to apply them effectively to complex technical challenges
Practical working knowledge of hydraulics relevant to groundwater and water resources projects
Clear, effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, for analysis, documentation, and reporting
Working familiarity with complementary technical tools such as mathematical models, data analysis platforms, and scripting or automation tools that enhance efficiency and insight
