Project Accountant
Thoughtforms is a nationally renowned construction company dedicated to building better homes that have a positive impact on individuals and the world. As a Project Accountant, you will support successful project delivery by managing accurate client billing and maintaining reliable project financial records in collaboration with Project Managers and the accounting team.

Responsibilities
Own the preparation and delivery of accurate, timely client invoices in close partnership with Project Managers, incorporating approved scope, change orders, estimate updates, and job cost information
Review job costs and billing inputs to ensure alignment with project scope, budget status, and progress prior to invoicing
Review, enter, and process accounts payable invoices by verifying receipt and coding in Procore, matching invoices to check runs, and proactively resolving missing or incomplete information
Actively review project financials to identify anomalies, emerging issues, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for improvement
Provide accurate, well-organized financial information to management to support informed project and business decisions
Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready project accounting records in compliance with company, regulatory, and statutory requirements
Partner cross-functionally with Project Managers and accounting teammates to improve workflows, documentation standards, and systems
Identify opportunities to adapt systems and processes to better support clients, subcontractors, vendors, and employees
Contribute to a small, collaborative office team by supporting HR and marketing-related tasks as needed
Qualification
Required
2+ years of experience in project accounting, construction accounting, or a closely related role
Demonstrated experience preparing client invoices tied to job costs, change orders, and project schedules
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, and anomalies
Comfort partnering closely with Project Managers in a collaborative, team-based environment
Familiarity with job cost reporting, WIP concepts, and project closeout processes
Experience supporting AR processes and resolving client billing questions
Hands-on experience with accounting and project management systems such as Sage 300 or Sage Intacct, Procore, and Microsoft tools (Outlook, SharePoint); ability to learn new systems
Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
Experience in residential or commercial construction, architecture, or design-build environments preferred
Demonstrated interest in improving systems, workflows, and documentation - not just executing tasks
