Purchasing Manager

Responsibilities

Prepare RFQ (request for quotation) and bid packages
Create purchase orders, and vendor contracts
Issue purchase orders and place said orders in a timely basis for purchases of materials and supplies based on inventory levels and or a signed purchase requisition
Synchronize inventory management efforts across all departments to enhance operational efficiency
Sustain familiarity with all corporate purchasing agreements and adhere to said agreements
Communicate any issues with corporate vendors to our corporate purchasing department
Have working knowledge of standard machinery parts and products used for production
Research suppliers for the highest quality, best value, and best terms, etc
Set up of new vendors and subcontractors and work with the legal department to ensure compliance
Assist in negotiations for purchases, including annual contracts, long-term contracts and blanket orders
Possess strong budgetary analysis and interpretation skills
Support accounting with invoice discrepancies
Oversee the set up/location of spare parts inventory items
Lead the spare parts department by optimizing warehouse layout, streamlining receiving protocols
Assist with reports and analysis to ensure timely procurement and cost control
Inform management of upcoming price increases, product availability, and economical alternatives

Required

Post-secondary educational degree (2 to 4 year degree from college, university, technical school, military, vocational or other advanced educational institution)
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, manuals, regulations, and codes
Ability to write business reports and correspondence
Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, contractors, employees and company officials
Clear, concise oral and written communication skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, volume, and net present value. Able to apply concepts of algebra and geometry along with basic math (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing)
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to gather information and perform root cause analysis and problem solving
Ability to create reports for review by upper management
Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Negotiation skills

Preferred

3-5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience using SAP
Experience using a CMMS System
