Manufacturing Engineer (Special Tooling Program)
Pantex Plant is a vital organization supporting national and global security missions. They are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for the Special Tooling Program to become a technical expert in manufacturing processes, provide training, and improve tooling producibility.

Responsibilities
Evaluate, track, and monitor tool fabrication processes, machine shop equipment, and facilities and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, usability, cost-efficiency, and performance of operations and equipment
Develop and maintain metrics that visualize fabrication process, equipment, and facility performance
Evaluate production costs and causes for fabrication delays
Design systems and implement process improvements, both tactical and strategic, that enhance tool fabrication efficiency, expand fabrication capability, are cost-efficient, reduce wastefulness and tool fabrication issues, and ensure high product quality based on relevant metrics
Develop and mature strategic initiatives that enable increased onsite tool fabrication capacity and expanded fabrication/manufacturing capabilities
Assist with identifying and scoping equipment purchases to maximize return on investment and impacts to increasing fabrication capacity and capabilities
Assess, develop requirements, and facilitate improvements to planning and scheduling tools/software used to plan and execute work on special tooling
Provide insight and guidance on manufacturing techniques and other relevant manufacturing processes and skills
Assist tool makers, crafts, and TMD engineers with questions/issues related to tool manufacturability
Serve as a liaison with TMD to facilitate timely resolution of tooling fabrication issues
Review tooling designs for manufacturability and provide feedback to design engineers
Responsible for the maintenance, development, operation, and documentation of the manufacturing systems required to produce Special Tooling
Assist in training plant personnel on Creo functionality and modeling techniques
Assist in training plant personnel on machine shop equipment programming and use with an emphasis on decreasing fabrication times while maintaining the quality of the end product
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in electrical, industrial, manufacturing, mechanical, or systems engineering from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET
There is a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement up to 4 years post-graduation at time of offer and confirmed by transcript. Beyond four years from graduation, engineering experience will supersede GPA as a requirement for hire
+ 3.0/4.0 minimum cumulative GPA for Bachelor's degree
+ 3.3/4.0 minimum cumulative GPA for Master's degree
+ 3.5/4.0 minimum cumulative GPA for PhD
In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities

Knowledgeable in respective technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
Ability to evaluate and provide feedback on new and proposed revisions to technical operating procedures, design drawings, design requirements, and facility systems, structures, and components
Ability to perform technical evaluations of processes and provide well-written, technical feedback
Ability to make informed decisions and support those decisions to your peers and senior management
Prior experience with the use or support of machine shop equipment and related technical knowledge/expertise
