FACILITIES CAD TECHNICIAN INTERN
Marvin Engineering Company is a leading defense contractor specializing in military aerospace and vehicle systems. The Facilities CAD Technician Intern will support the planning, design, documentation, and coordination of facility projects, producing high-quality BIM and CAD deliverables while collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Produce floor plans, elevations, sections, and details in Autodesk AutoCAD for renovations and minor works
Update legacy drawings and convert redlines/site markups into accurate CAD documents
Assist with file organization per CAD standards
Develop and maintain architectural building models, views, sheets, and schedules in Autodesk Revit
Create and update families, assemble detailed components, and ensure model accuracy and data integrity
Support clash detection and coordination with structural/MEP disciplines (as applicable)
Supports adjacency diagrams, and space allocation studies to optimize utilization
Gather program requirements and translate them into preliminary layouts and design options
Update space inventories and room data sheets
Conduct on-site measurements, photo documentation, and condition assessments
Validate existing drawings against field conditions and record changes for updates to Revit/CAD
Follow safety protocols while performing field work
Help refine drawing templates, detail libraries, and BIM/CAD standards
Contribute to checklists, QA/QC procedures, and documentation best practices
Support adoption of naming conventions and file management protocols
Participate in design reviews and coordination meetings with maintenance, EHS, IT, and operations
Track action items and support submittal reviews and RFI responses
Assist in preparing presentation materials for stakeholders
Perform targeted research on building codes, accessibility, and sustainability guidelines (e.g., energy efficiency, material health)
Compile product data and material selections aligned with performance and maintenance goals
Qualification
Required
Certificate, associate's degree, or equivalent work experience in CAD/drafting
Hands-on experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit (coursework + project portfolio or internship experience)
Foundational understanding of building systems, assemblies, and architectural detailing
Ability to read and produce architectural drawings and basic schedules
Strong attention to detail, organization, and file hygiene in a multi-project environment
Effective communication skills—capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams
Preferred
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or related field
